This ARC wine was grown by Jim Zerella at his Ryan Road vineyard in Willunga, McLaren Vale. The site is planted on complex mixed geology of limestone, sandstone, siltstone, quartzite and shale on the steep slopes of the Willunga escarpment. Handpicked and treated as three separate wines. One third was kept 100% whole bunch, fermented in a tank and pressed after 2 weeks to old french oak barrels. One third was directly pressed and barrel fermented. The final third was de-stemmed and kept on skins for three weeks with a daily pump-over. All were carefully blended in the Autumn of 2025 with 40ppm of SO2 added in the lead up to bottling. Although the resulting wines colour is light its a full weighted and serious Grenache, full of jubey red fruit and plenty of structure.
