Seaview Ridge

Seaview Ridge is the estate wine project of Simon Jones and Charles O’Brien, who farm 1.6ha of vineyards in Baw Baw Shire, West Gippsland—one of Australia’s coolest and most exposed wine regions, framed by the Victorian Alps and Bass Strait. The namesake and crown jewel of the label is Simon and Olivia Jones’s home vineyard in Seaview, a 0.5ha high-density Chardonnay block perched atop the Strzelecki Ranges. Rejuvenated over the past four years, it reflects a deep commitment to site expression and excellence.
Established in 2020 after inspiring visits to local pioneers like William Downie and Patrick Sullivan, Simon and Charles were drawn to the area’s iron-rich volcanic soils and the perfume, energy, and delicacy of its wines. Having cut their teeth under the Château Acid label using warmer-climate négociant fruit, the opportunity to lease vines at the esteemed Bull Swamp vineyard in Warragul marked a shift to classical winemaking—farming and vinifying their own fruit to exacting standards.
Today, they work with Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, farming organically without tilling and using only copper, sulfur, and beneficial sprays. In the cellar, a minimal intervention approach lets the fruit and place shine. Seaview Ridge is a passionate, evolving pursuit: grounded in the region, driven by curiosity, and dedicated to producing wines of clarity, vibrancy, and origin.
