Verdicchio
From organically grown Verdicchio grapes in the vineyard of Contrada San Paterniano, in Serra de’ Conti, 13,6 acres. Soil enrichment is made with green manure and the soil is left permanently and naturally grassy. Exposure is West, South and South-West; altitude is from 325 to 250 altitudes: clay at the top, mixed halfway and sandy at the bottom. Manual harvest, de-stemming and gentle press, use of only free-run must, clarification through decanting and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts selected from the vineyard. No use of sulfites during fermentation or elevage, just a little before bottling. Ageing on lees in stainless steel for 6 months and then for 2 months in bottles. Verdicchio in this area is known for its dry, mineral character and this wine is no exception. A piercing acidity carries a beautifully expressive palate with the hallmark salty/oily texture and notes of peach, white flowers and lemon curd. Complex and structured, this wine delivers well beyond the modest price.
